Taking a foundational approach to a timeline installation, this exhibit focuses on the first three pivotal decades of Gore’s 50+ year history. This approach allowed the team to craft a well-defined narrative with a clear beginning and end. Thematically, the story highlights the inventions, products, culture, and collaborative team spirit that have been fundamental to Gore’s growth.
Pivot door–faced display cabinets anchor each decade of the exhibit. Each door features a six-foot-wide digitally etched gradient glass panel, shifting from frosted to clear, subtly separating the objects inside from the floating timeline attached to the door. Chosen for its strength and subtlety, the pivot door integrates seamlessly into the structure, supports the weight of the timeline and glass panel, and allows smooth front access to the cabinet interior where rear access is not available.
